Out Calories

Privacy Policy

Last updated 1 October 2026

The short version. Out Calories has no accounts and no server of its own that holds your data. Everything you log lives in a database on your iPhone. When you use the AI coach, the part needed to answer you is sent to an AI model under a setting that forbids keeping it or training on it — and the app asks your permission before the first time. No ads, no tracking, nothing sold.

Who runs Out Calories

Levan Bakhia (ლევან ბახია), an individual entrepreneur registered in Georgia, Akhmeteli st 10a, Tbilisi, Georgia. Email [email protected] · Phone +995 599 789 229. We are the controller of the personal data described here. Write to us about anything in this policy and a person answers within 30 days, usually much sooner.

What the app keeps — on your iPhone

This data is stored only in the app's own storage on your device (and in your device backups, if you use iCloud or computer backups). We cannot see it. A small summary for the home-screen widgets (today's calories, macros and fast timer) is kept in storage shared only with the app's own widgets.

Apple Health

If you connect Apple Health, the app reads steps, body weight, body fat and workouts to calculate what you burn. It writes nothing to Apple Health. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, never sold, and never shared except as described in "When you use the AI coach" below — and then only to give you the answer you asked for.

When you use the AI coach

The coach, voice input, photo logging and "Ask AI" activity matching use a large language model. Before the first use, the app shows exactly what is sent where and asks for your agreement; you can turn the coach off again in Settings → AI coach.

WhoWhat they receiveWhy
OpenRouter, routing to Google (Gemini)Your message, any photo you send, short audio clips when you talk, and the figures needed to answer: your profile (age, height, weight, body fat), today's activity, meals and fasting — which can include steps and weight read from Apple Health. To answer, log food and activities, transcribe your voice, and analyse your data when you ask.

Every request is sent with OpenRouter's settings that admit only providers that do not retain and do not train on what is sent (data_collection: deny and zero data retention). This is fixed in the app's code. Requests carry no name, email or account identifier — there is none. Audio is not stored by us; it becomes text in your chat.

Food and activity lookups

WhoWhat they receive
USDA FoodData Central (U.S. Department of Agriculture)Food names, to look up nutrition per 100 g.
Open Food FactsProduct names or barcodes, to look up packaged foods.
Brave SearchSearch words for restaurant or regional dishes, and the pages read from the results.

These receive food and search words only — nothing about you. Like any web request, they see your device's IP address.

Notifications

Coach nudges (weigh-in reminders, fast timers and similar) are planned and scheduled on your iPhone. No notification content passes through a server of ours.

What we don't do

No analytics that follow what you do, no advertising identifiers, no tracking across apps or websites, no selling or sharing of personal data for advertising, no location, contacts or calendar access. We do not use your data to train any model.

How long it's kept, and deleting it

Your data stays on your iPhone until you delete it. Settings → Delete all my data removes your profile, logs, meals, photos, fasts, chat and settings immediately. Deleting the app does the same. Because we hold no copy, there is nothing further for us to delete; AI and lookup providers do not keep what was sent, as described above.

Legal basis and your rights

We process data to give you the service you asked for (performance of a contract), and data sent to AI providers on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in Settings. You have the right to access, correct, delete or export your data, and to object or restrict processing — most of which you can do yourself in the app, since the data is on your device. You can complain to the Personal Data Protection Service of Georgia, or to the data protection authority where you live.

Children

Out Calories is not for children. You must be at least 16 (or older if your country's age of digital consent is higher). Dieting and fasting tools are not suitable for children.

Security

Connections use HTTPS. Data on your iPhone is protected by iOS encryption when your device is locked. If you believe you've found a security problem, write to [email protected] with "Out Calories security" in the subject; we answer within two working days. See also our security.txt.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, the app will say so before the change takes effect. The date at the top is the current version.
